Cheryl Capezzuti

Cheryl Capezzuti’s sculptures remind us of ancient relics, extinct creatures and past civilizations but on close inspection, they are deeply connected to what it means to be an American. Using dryer lint as the medium, the detritus that is shed from our lives, embedded with tell-tale evidence like tickets, papers clips, transit receipts, Capezzuti’s works are archeologically layered. The sculptures that emerge, monopeds, bipeds or avian, engage us both intellectually and playfully.
